Udan Liris was launched in conjunction with the celebrations of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Indonesia in 2017.
Drawing inspiration from batik, the Udan Liris (“drizzling rain” in English) collection is based off a diagonal lereng pattern symbolising fertility, determination and gratitude.
The udan liris pattern is historically one of four designs exclusively reserved for the Sultan of Surakarta and the royal family in the 18th century and was forbidden for use by commoners.
The lereng motif traditionally feature 45 degree slanted rows of 5, 7, 9 or 11. This is incorporated into the design of the pieces in the Udan Liris collection, each named after synonyms of rain – Mist, Dew, Drizzle and Mizzle.
Each piece features baguette-cut sapphires set in 18K rose gold to encapsulate the rich solidity of a royal Indonesian batik, contrasted with the shimmer of a fine drizzling rain.
Crafted expertly by hand, Udan Liris fuses traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Carefully chosen Sapphires shimmer within bezels of 18K Gold.
Special attention is paid to tailoring products with accessibility and wearability for the modern consumer.
