Bolton is named after Judy Bolton of the eponymous books by Margaret Sutton. She has been lauded as a complex, yet believable role model among fictional detectives. Her stories often value moral principles and human relationships. Her methods promote collaborative problem-solving and diverts from dominance. Bolton also embraces vulnerability and emotionality in her work, allowing her to be more relatable among readers.
